What is pregnancy
The term “pregnancy” refers to the period of time when one or more gestations occur inside a woman’s uterus. Multiple pregnancies result in more than one child, such as twins. Although sexual activity is the most common way to become pregnant, assisted reproductive technology treatments are also an option. The gestational age is the period of time after the start of the last menstrual period when childbirth normally occurs. It’s a little over nine months.
Pregnancy is one of the periods in a woman’s life that they should be keen to ensure the period ends well and the baby is born. Somebody has to do numerous things for a healthy baby to be delivered. Some of the things that should be monitored and maintained during this period are digestion and exercise. During pregnancy, a woman should avoid foods like junk food. Recommend foods include iron-rich foods, calcium, and vitamins, especially vitamin D. Women should have a balanced diet to ensure proper baby growth and give the mother the required physique to deliver the baby safely. Exercise and physical activities should also be the priorities for the individual to keep the body fit and ready for nurturing the baby during delivery. The essay aims to discuss expectations in pregnancy and what women should know about pregnancy.
Pregnancy is something that many women would argue that it comes with lots of complications that might be mistaken for sickness. For instance, most women will undergo vomiting, feeling dizziness and helplessness, and lack of appetite during the initial stages (Weather Spoon). Most women, especially girls, will face challenges during their first pregnancy, including swelling of body parts like legs (Carin et al. 7). Many women, especially new mothers, are tormented by these challenges and feel they should not become mothers again. Since these are the steps a woman typically undergoes during this period, though not all women experience this, they should be ready to face them courageously and become mothers of great people. Prospective mothers should not fear since not all women experience extremes, especially when they follow what their medical advisors recommend.
Women should adhere to all the guidelines and recommendations, especially the correct diet code and physical activities to keep fit, from their medical practitioners to maintain a healthy pregnancy and deliver a healthy and healthy toddler. These women should ensure they remain physically fit by engaging in physical activities that keep them fit and healthy. A healthy woman has to take food that can nurture both the baby and the mother, and therefore, women should be keen on nutrition. Some foods are excellent and positive impact during pregnancy (Marshall et al. 610).
Such food, including iron-rich foods, calcium, and fruits, prepares the body of the woman to carry on the pregnancy with energy. Other foods are risky, and women should avoid them during pregnancy. Such foods include soft foods such as cheese, undercooked food, and alcohol. Pregnant women should consult their medical advisors (Murray and Hensley 197). It will help them avoid extreme complications that may arise during this season, endangering the life of the unborn baby and the mother.
Drugs are highly prohibited during pregnancy because they have various adverse effects on the unborn and the mother. For instance, alcohol intake leads to false judgment, so a pregnant woman might falsely judge a road and cross when high-spending motorists or vehicles lead to a fatal accident (Caro and Fast 424). Alcohol intake is also dangerous because it increases miscarriage risks. Besides miscarriages, alcohol might also cause premature birth and birth of babies with low birth weight. Consequently, more dangerous effects are caused by smoking both marijuana and cigarettes (Marshall 612). Smoking causes tissue damage risking the life of the toddler. Scientists suggest that smoking tobacco might have a miscarriage effect in women; therefore, pregnant people should avoid it at all costs. Many people argue that taking little alcohol has no problem, but the problem is heavy drinking. I cannot entirely agree with those arguments because taking a little daily would be the same as drinking, consequently affecting the baby and leading to addiction resulting in heavy drinking.
Exercise and physical activities are vital in ensuring the pregnant woman’s fitness. A healthy body is suitable for performing all biological and physiological activities. By doing daily physical exercise, a woman keeps her body fit by improving her cardiovascular fitness and mood. She is also associated with decreased gestational diabetes and lowering excessive weight gain (Birsner and Gyamfi-Bannerman 8). Excessive weight gain is advised against during pregnancy so the woman can be physically ready to give birth to the young baby. Light physical activities that are not risky to the mother and the unborn are encouraged to help the mother remain fit (Londero et al. 2). It includes walking, swimming, and playing basketball. The exercises reduce back pain and reduce the chances of caesarian delivery. Some people restrict exercise, arguing that it can bring complications. Still, it is invalid and scientifically proven that it is beneficial and healthy for the mother.
Some people believe it is not right to engage in sexual intercourse when a woman is pregnant. Many believe that sexual intercourse interferes with the fetus making many women develop negative attitudes toward pregnancy sex (Fernández-Carrasco et al., 2). Consequently, some argue they lack sexual desire when pregnant and avoid it as much as possible. Contrary to this, other women believe that their sexual desire increases when they are pregnant and thus engage in sexual intercourse often to satisfy their desire. Sex is an individual’s willingness to engage when ready and prepared, whether pregnant or not.
Pregnancy is when a fetus grows and develops into a baby in a woman’s body. Pregnancy is critical and should be taken care of to ensure a healthy offspring. Some ways of nurturing a pregnancy include having healthy, well-balanced nutrition. Some foods that promote a healthy pregnancy include iron and calcium-rich foods. Fruits are also essential for the pregnant mother’s body because they provide vitamins and fiber. Exercise and physical activities are vital for a pregnant woman because it makes the woman fit for the pregnancy.
